It is said, quite often, that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." At McCann Industries, we say it a little differently. "No one wants to admit they have ugly children" and this is one of our babies. We think you will love it as if it was your own. It is beautifully proportioned and balanced, comfortable, and yet entirely useful. All our knives start life as precision ground flat stock of O1 alloy. When heat-treated properly and drawn to 56 on a Rockwell C Scale they are tough, hard and easy to sharpen. The Puffin Wave design incorporates all of our experience and the best features of our past designs. You can feel the nearly perfect balance with just a "slight" forward weight bias. A raised area above and below, forming the hilt, is machined directly into the blade from solid steel so it can never come loose. The upper portion is serrated with three slots to significantly improve forward thrusting with your thumb. The grip is sculpted and ergonomic with a rounded area below which makes thrusting easy. On the blunt end, or pommel, we’ve included a lanyard hole for easy attachment of 550 cord, small DIA rope, or the traditional leather lanyard. As you look at the grip end you will notice a downward slope. This is important as it fills your palm for firm and solid thrusting. When withdrawing, or pulling the knife back, it allows for greater force and speed. When chopping or preparing food such as carrots, celery, onions, or garlic, this drop at the butt end will be appreciated. You will feel the difference in your wrist.Although the shape is artwork, it has purpose as a weapon as well as a tool. No part of this knife is incapable of doing damage. The edge is ground on CNC equipment and has built-in micro serrations. The pommel can be used as a blunt trauma instrument. For “come-alongs” the hilt can be used to plant inside an assailant's nostril or inside the ear channel. Used properly, and with enough force applied, these hard points will allow you to steer your attacker. Some features to note:Threaded Grip Bushings: It is easier and cheaper to replace screws and bushings than to repair a hardened tang. Counter Bored Grip Scales: Screws don't take shear loads well. Dowels do. That's why gearboxes, engine cylinder heads, brake drums and rotors and many other devices use this application to locate parts securely and accurately. That’s why we use them in all of our knives.Micarta Grips: Chevrolet used this material to drive camshafts in engines for decades. Parkerized Finish: Used on American military small arms since 1917Debur: Completely machine deburred first on the CNC; then in a vibratory tumbler. The final debur is accomplished with abrasive blasting before parkerizing. Legal Blade Length: We put a lot of power into this 5.5’ blade because some our customers live in states where they are restricted to blades of less than 6 inches. We dare any knife of this size to have the stroking and cutting power of the Wave. We’ve been told, by those who know and love great blades, that the new Puffin Wave may be the ultimate in design, function, and craftsmanship. If you pick one up...hold it in your hand...and test the balance and feel for yourself...you may very well agree.$289 USD$10.50 Shipping and Handling in USAQuestions?Call 253-537-6919 info@mccannindustries.com
