The McCann Industries MIRS mount starts life as a 14.5 lbs. block of 7075T6511  bar. It measures 2x3x14.500 inches. With a cost of $50.00 per bar. When machining has been completed the weight drops from 14 lbs. to 14.5 ounces, a reduction of nearly 1,600%. This is not the cheapest way to make a mount, but it is the best way.

After all machine process is done, a careful deburr and vibratory tumbling is done to ensure a smooth snag free surface.

Our mount is hard coat anodized to mil spec 8625 class II type 3. We offer them in three colors: Black, black and black, Did I say Black! All dimensions have been proven to work with all known ring sets of the "weaver or mil spec type".

Precision Long Range Shots

On duty in IRAQ

The mount has been tested with two axis accelerometers, on two occasions by two independent testers to remove doubt about potentially harmful / damaging (to optics) harmonics that may be present.

At this late date many, many thousands of rounds of ammunition have been fired through rifles with the MIRS/M24 mount attached. It is our strong recommendation that all fasteners be upgraded to 8-40 size from 6-48. In the event fasteners are not upgraded, there will be no warranty from McCann Industries that will apply.

This mount and our M-14 mount are in use by the federal government special operations community to include Special Forces, Rangers, Navy, F.B.I., and more. If you have any further questions, Please call us at 253-537-6919

ATTENTION

It has recently come to our attention that some of our customers are so smart, that they don't need to read, understand and follow the supplied instruction sheet. We hope you are not those customers. Below are common mistakes made by them and remedies for the supposed short comings and over sites of the mounting process. Maybe this note should describe each meaning like "tight" But unlike one of our former presidents we think you shouldn't have to be told what "sex" is; or every word on this page.

Common Mistakes:

1. Customer not reading instruction sheet completely.
2. Customer not understanding instruction sheet completely.
3. Customer not following instructions completely.
4. Customer not checking to see if fasteners are tight.
5. The mounts fit standard stock barrells that are installed by the rifle company
6. How to check fasteners tighten # 5 screw without loctite. If you can feel any movement in base, screws is not tight.

    A. Remove screw 5 and set aside. Tighten # 4 screw without loctite. If you can feel any movement in base, screw is not tight.
    B. Remove screw # 4 and set aside. Tighten # 2 screw without loctite. If you can feel any movement in base screw is not tight.
    C. Remove screw # 2 and set aside tighten screw # 1 without loctite. If you can feel any movement in base screw is not tight.
    D. Remove screw # 1 set aside.

7. Remedies for movement in base

    A. Screws too long
AA. Shorten screws. This is the lazy / stupid way. To fix.
    B. Holes in receiver not tapped to proper depth.
BB. Acquire proper Bottoming tap. Either 6-48 or 8-40 threads. No other tap is suitable this is the best way.
    C. Contaminants in bottom of threads roots
CC. Clean out threads with correct plug tap
    D. Burred/worn/stripped threads.
DD. Tap to next larger thread and replace fasteners. If counter bores and holes in mount are modified accordingly.

If the mount does not seem right to you call us with question. 253-537-6919; before you complain to your "buddies".
